Alert Management

Event-driven alerts to spot changes before they become problems

AppFirst Alert Management is a customizable, event-based alerting system that notifies you of significant changes in your infrastructure as soon as they occur.  An alert can be set on a particular resource (ex. memory) or on an activity (ex. when a specified file is accessed).  Resource-based alerts have a threshold that you can customize based on past collected data. When the threshold is crossed, the alert is triggered to notify the appropriate people.  AppFirst Alert Management lets you know about changes in your product before they become serious problems, so you can be proactive in responding to your changing infrastructure needs.  Alerts can be received via email or SMS, so you can respond quickly, even on the go.

Other alerting solutions flood their users with unproductive and often repetitive notifications.  AppFirst Alert Management solves this problem with application-specific alerts and customizable intervals between alert notifications.  Instead of only setting alerts on entire servers, you can set alerts on a single process or group of processes (application) that can represent a whole server, a part of a server, or span multiple servers.  Application-based alerts are very specific, so when you receive a notification, you know exactly what component of your infrastructure you’re dealing with.  This specificity enables you to respond efficiently and effectively, without first having to spend time tracking down the exact issue.  AppFirst Alert Management also allows you to set an interval between notifications about the same alert, giving you the opportunity to identify and address the issue without being distracted by repetitive alerts.  After the set interval, you will receive another notification informing you about what has happened since the initial alert was triggered.

Nagios and Windows Performance Counter users benefit from a consolidated view of all their alerts using AppFirst.  AppFirst automatically creates alerts from Nagios scripts and Windows Performance Counter thresholds, which you can manage and change with Alert Management.  You now have a consolidated view to manage your IT infrastructure and the applications that run on it.

Use AppFirst Alert Management to proactively monitor performance by staying aware of any changes in your infrastructure and fixing problems before they occur!
